Hello

Post by 03MazdaSpeed566 »

Just stopping in to look around a tad, not technically a callaway owner since my car was never really released as a callaway but ive been a long time fan of the callaway cars and enjoying every minute of mine!. :jsmile

The more i modify this car the more i love it, the callaway parts are still 100% intact and working as intended.

So in conclusion..... :hi

Heres the best pic i have at my disposal right now...

Jeff,

Welcome aboard.

Those are some cool little cars and you are one of the few owners who know who put the extra umph behind their power.

You have a very nice car there, more pictures please.

Cool car!

I have spent a few hundred miles in the blue development Mazda and it is a fun little rocket! I would have bought one new in 03, but I am a bit large for a compact car :help

I wonder how many other C14 owners are through this site? :wtf

Unfortunately, alot of the mazdaspeed owners have gotten rid of the callaway parts and mazda oem part all together on these cars. But as I believe I said in another post, the callaway engineered parts are not the problems, i believe callaway probably engineered some better parts but mazda axed them due to cost os production. OEM, the car has MANY shortcomings. Most of the mazdaspeed guys spend their time over at www.mazdas247.com/forum. If someone from callaway could answer a few questions i would greatly appreciate it.

What type of intercooler setup was the car designed with originally in the prototyping stages?
What was the originally intended boost level?
Was the car prototyped with a different exhaust than it came with in production?

290? geezus, mine only made 210whp at 10 psi with a slew of bolt on modifications. Does anyone know what they did to it to get 290 out of it. I definately understand the drivetrain durability though, im at 81,000 miles and ive rebuilt my transmission 3 times by now.

It was probably 290 at the crank, and not at the wheels. Is your car at 210 at the wheels?

It had around 210whp with the old setup on it. My buddy had the same setup and put down 213whp and mine and his car ran nose to nose. Yes, those silver wheels in the picture are the bright silver finish 17" Racing Hart MPS2 OEM wheel.

My current modificaton list contains:

AWR World Challenge F&R Motor Mounts (76 Durometer Polyurethane)
Exedy OEM Replacement Clutch Assembly
MazdaSpeed Tochigi Fuji 3rd Revision LSD Welded
Tokico Illumina 5 Way Adjustable Struts
Goldline MazdaSpeed Specific Lowering Springs
Energy Polyurethane Rear Sway Bar Bushings (Greasable)
EBC Turbo Groove Sport Rotors
EBC Green Stuff Brake Pads
Custom 3 Inch Downpipe Back Catless Exhaust w/ Vibrant Performance Street Power Muffler
ATP 8.5 PSI WasteGate Actuator
Custom Short Ram Intake
Forge BOV
Custom Water Intercooler Sprayer
Defi D-Gauge White Faced -30-+30 Boost Gauge (PSI) (For Sale in favor of an AEM TruBoost)
Defi D-Gauge White Faced Narrowband Air/Fuel Gauge (For Sale in favor of an AEM UEGO Controller)
iEquus White Faced Volt Gauge
SA Trading 8000K HID Kit
TWM Short Shifter
KartBoy Polyurethane Shifter Bushing

The mods that I have removed and sold in favor of a new setup include....
HiBoost Front Mount Intercooler Kit
Greddy Type-S Blow Off Valve
Denso OEM Bypass Valve Dual Setup
Injen Cold Air Intake
Nology Hotwires MazdaSpeed Ignition System
2.25" Catless Midpipe
17x7 Bronze Enkei Evo 5 Wheels (They were the wrong offset and even with rolling the fenders lowered it rubbed the fenders)

As far as the new setup goes its really kind of up in the air, im debating building the car or leaving it as is for a daily driver and buying a 69 chevelle and building it as a pro touring car with a twin turbo small block.

Heres some pictures on the old setup, the current setup isnt much to speak of so i dont have any current pics, the weather has sucked to say the least lately also.
