Timing

Post by Tiger38117 »

Is the timing spec different for a CTTC? I checked mine yesterday, and it's at 8 instead of the stock 6. I am sorting out a variety of things as I get to know the engine, should I turn it back to 6?

Thx

Timing is stock for you year Vette, 6 degrees.

If your timing is off, might be worth pulling the distributor and looking at the distributor gear for wear.

I have the Callaway manual somewhere - I recall the timing as being AFTER TDC, not BTDC as is common..

I'll check and get back to you.

Not sure if it was different across the years.

Hi,

timing is 6° BTDC but there is some things to undo if You check the timing, instruction of the process are in Your intercooler label.

Guys,

this post has worried me for some time - as I did contribute, but life got in the way to finish it off :)

I have a 1987 Callaway B2K and also have the Owners manual.
In the manual it quotes "2 degrees ATDC (Note: "AFTER" TDC)"

I took a pic of the intercooler info and it says "(N)" - no clue what that means?

Can anyone (Callaway Chris) shed some light on what that means?

The pic supplied by PolarBear must be a non 1987?

Chris,

can you elaborate please?
Is that pic off an '87 B2K corvette?

The intercooler info is unclear - the manual clearly says 2degrees ATDC.

ooops!

In an effort to tidy up my photobucket account, I deleted the pics I posted!
I'll add them here:

I think Callaway Chris is the only guy who can clear this up.
The manual is original Callaway (I purchased it from them myself)
The "(N)" on the intercoller info looks like an error? (perhaps telling the tuner to have the transmission in Nuetral, but omitting what the # of degrees is supposed to be?)

Polar Bear - is your pic from a 1987?
If so, what #?
maybe a change occurred during production?

Received notification from Callaway that the timing for a 1987 is zero degrees.

no idea why it says 2 degrees ATDC in the manual

Confirmation that the 2 degrees ATDC in the manual is incorrect, due to a running change, the correct timing for a 1987 CTTC B2K is 0 degrees.
