Best Oil for the TVS2300 SC606 Supercharger

Does anyone know what the factory fill or best oil for the TVS2300 supercharger is? The oil is good for 80-100k miles, but I want to change it out with fresh since it is going on 7 years, but only has 12.5k miles of use.

188 ml of GM 12345982 Supercharger oil is the spec.

Okay as a CMA (Cover my *ss) I take no responsibility towards this procedure. This is what I did to change out the oil in the TVS2300 Supercharger on my 2012 Callaway with 12600 miles. (you can see the difference in the oil mainly as pictured fresh on the left side older on the right side)
I have a touch of OCD when it comes to my cars fluids and prefer them to be as fresh as possible.

Items needed:
4-8 oz. Ac Delco Supercharger oil can be found online or via a GM dealership ( mine only took about 4.5-5 oz.)
Syringe with approx. 14-18 inches of hose ( can be found on the internet)
3/16 hex bit and a ratchet ( you could also need various extensions if needed)
shop towels


Step 1. Drove the car for about 15 minutes to warm the oil up and then let sit for about 30-40 minutes ( the Supercharger was still pretty warm to the touch)
Step 2. I placed clean shop rags under and over the belt to prevent the possibility of losing the fill plug and to keep oil from getting on the belt or intake
Step 3. Located fill plug and cleaned the area to prevent any debris from getting inside once removed
Step 4. Removed the fill plug and set aside in safe location using 3/16 hex and ratchet. (Check yours for proper fitment to eliminate stripping the fill plug)
Step 5. Inserted tube from the driverside into the fill hole and maneuvered inside the housing. Hint easiest to insert at an angle going towards the passenger side. If you try to go straight in it will be blocked as a gear is right there.
Step 6. Attach Syringe and pull fluid out. Remove Syringe with tube still attached while being careful not to drip oil on the rest of the engine area or car. Discard old oil in a container to be recycled.
Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you are unable to get anymore fluid out. In my case I was only able to get approx. 4.5-5 oz out.
Step 7. Using a clean tube attached to the fresh oil and inserted into the fill hole and poured fresh oil into the housing. After pouring in approx. the same amount I pulled out I monitored fill hole for oil to pour out.
Step 8 I let stand for a few minutes to allow the oil to settle and tried to add more oil. Once oil came back out of the fill hole I wiped area and replaced fill plug after cleaning it too. Do not over tighten as the case seems to be aluminum and you do not want to ruin the threads.
Step 9. Wipe area and clean up any residual oil
Step 10. Most inportant step go out for a nice drive.

A couple of questions:

- would you be able to post a link to where you bought that clear plastic hose? It looks like it might connect to the syringe on one end? I don't think I've seen a hose like that before.
- what is that attachment to your rachet? Again, not something I've seen before.

Here is a link to Ebay the seller was Khaos Motorsports. I got this kit and it comes with 2 4oz. bottles of oil and a syringe with tubing. When I filled mine I had other tubing that I used, but I guess you could use the syringe and tubing they send with the syringe acting like a funnel. I did request to get a longer piece of tubing and they accommodated via notes to seller at purchase.

Finally got around to this. I was able to get out about 4.5oz out. It took a little finagling to get the tube in to the nooks and crannys to be able to suck the oil out. Man, that old oil STINKS!

A few tips from my experience.

-- ensure the vehicle is on a perfectly flat surface or very slightly inclined (engine higher than rear). I think that would aid in being able to get more of the old fluid out, as there is very limited space to get the tube in. As I mentioned in my post above, there was quite a bit of "finagling" with the tube, trying to find pockets of space between the roots to get to the bottom of the supercharger to be able to suck out the fluid. I used a number of different tubes to get the fluid it -- the tube that came with the kit, another tube of similar diameter that I had that was longer and a third tube that had a smaller diameter that I had that I fashioned to a different syringe with gorilla glue.

-- be very conscious of making sure the tube does not come off the tip of the syringe and gets stuck, or worst case, falls in to the supercharger. When you are trying to find out pockets of space to move the tube around, you'll feel the tube grip or "get stuck" slightly at times. I used both hands to make sure the tube never came apart from the syringe and the end of the tube that connects to the tip of the syringe never went in to the hole. I couldn't imagine the horror of the tube falling in to the supercharger -- that would be a very bad day.

-- make sure you measure how much old fluid you take out so you can put the same amount of new back in

-- take note of how hard it is (or not) to unscrew the plug. That'll give you a sense of how much torque to apply when you put the plug back in.

Thank you. Maybe I should superglue the tube onto the syringe...lol. I don’t want that thing coming off.

How long did it take? I might rather do it twice and go with a dilution method to swap the hard to reach oil.

I'm pretty slow when working on cars, especially on jobs I haven't done before. I think it took maybe 30-45 minutes??? Most all of that was messing with the tube and finding the pockets to suck out the old fluid.

If I recall correctly (double check me!), I don't think that oil calls to be changed for something like 100k miles. I too thought about the dilution thing but decided not to mess with it, as my 2013 has only 18k miles on it. I figured 4.5oz of new plus however much old was left was more than good enough to last me to the next time I want to change the supercharger oil.

I'll go snap a few pics of my smaller diameter tube setup for you.

Above, next to the sunglasses, is what I fashioned as a secondary tool -- it did not come with the ebay kit. I bought another syringe and this smaller and stiffer vacuum tube. I then gorilla glued a section of it in to the softer and larger tube (I had some laying around, exactly the same thing that comes with the kit), and then glued that tube on to the end of the tip and finally the tip on to the syringe tube.

I found the smaller and stiffer tube easier to get in to and work around in the supercharger. The tube that comes with the kit is a bit soft so it is harder to "push" in to the nooks and crannies. The smaller tube was easier to "push around" but it maintains a kind of "curl" or "bend" to it so you have to put it in to the sc hole at the right angle in order for it to get to the bottom. It is also a bit harder to suck the fluid out (i.e. pulling on the syringe) on account of the smaller diameter but it was no big deal -- just be careful and pull slowly, you don't want to pull syringer puller to "pop out" suddenly on your backstroke and spray sc oil everywhere.

It’s weird because Magnusson‘s website says that it’s sealed unit and you don’t need to change the oil. Very confusing!

I believe I need to change the rear belt as well so I may tackle this all at one time. Thank you so much for the pictures it’s a big help.
