Supernatural LT1s

Post by Arctic91 »

Does anyone happen to know what accounted for the hp/torque gains over the years with the LT1-based Supernatural motors? Started with 400 and eventually peaked at 450, from what I can tell.

Were the same internal components used over the course of the run or were changes adopted over time? Any changes to exhaust? Was the tuning further refined and some increased performance unlocked that way?

I was asked what was different between a SNAT 400 and a SNAT 450 that gave the latter an extra 50 horses, and really didn't have a solid answer.

Thanks,
Scott

The difference on mine changing from 400 to 450 was LT4 intake, different head Porting, Roller Rockers, headers And tune.

Thanks, mate. That's more detail than I've been able to discern about the differences following hours of online searching.

Thanks. I appreciate the response, but am hoping to learn what changes were made to the LT1 builds between 1992-95 to differentiate a "Supernatural 450" from a "Supernatural 400". What changes were made to get the extra hp and torque? The LT5 was a different animal and I can understand the elevated numbers from that motor.
