Could that be the leak source?

From what I can see, and the condition of the o-ring, I think it's a pretty good chance that's it...o-ring was flat and hard, so much so that it looked like it was a gap fitted ring but Wayne assured me that it was a rounded. Being in there for a long time with a lot of heat sure seems plausible that it would be the culprit, we'll soon see.

Well Josh, nothing new to report as the o-rings I ordered from Wayne haven't arrived yet. Could've probably sourced something locally but figured I'd support CC and make sure I got the right stuff anyway. With winter weather rearing it's ugly head for the next 4-5 days I'll probably wait until next weekend...but the more I look over the old o-ring the more I think (hope) it's the culprit. Hard and brittle in addition to having some cracking in it, will see soon.

Thanks for the update! I. Excited to hear if the ring stops the drip. I feel like you’re headed in the right direction. Can’t see how that thing would have been properly sealing. :beer

Happy Easter all!

Welp, got the o-rings and put everything back together. Think it was definitely worthwhile to do but I still have a leak, though it doesn't appear to be leaking as much as before. Checked the oil pressure sensor & switch, looks pretty dry there as well. Hoping it's not the china wall or rear main seal, next step will likely be to run out and get some uv dye to see if I can track it down that way...

Latest update for `88-048, put some dye in the crankcase and it looks like the china wall...now just have to decide if I want to tackle pulling the intake or not. It's not a bad leak but I like to have everything tight. Family friend who's a decent wrench suggested I try some Lucas Oil engine stop leak...he's still a friend, but that ain't happening.

That intake was from a 90. It didn’t fit great when it was installed and had to be machined a little. Of course that’s been 15 years ago, so perhaps it just needs a little R&R.

Yeah stop leak is a bit no-no.
