2009 C16 D spot issues
Hello fellow Callaway owners! I’m having issues with the driver door D spot. When touching it the door only partly opens. The window drops a 1/4 inch or so but the door will not open. As far as I can tell it’s a two stage lock where your have to either tap the d spot twice, once for each stage (I guess) but the door only opens to the first stage. Coincidentally the door often fails to open from the inside as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. FOB batteries are new as well as car battery.

Re: 2009 C16 D spot issues
Sounds to me like the door actuator isn't working well, maybe not related to the D spot.
I replaced mine on the SC606, it wasn't terribly difficult. Id give Pete Callaway a call and see what he says.
The replacement was pretty straight forward. Just a few bolts to unscrew, a couple of pieces of trim to remove/move, and then peel back this glued rubber membrane to access the actuator.
I did a terrible job of taking pics but you can see it laying on the ground and see the membrane peeled back.

I did contact Pete (great guy) but it was a few weeks before his wedding so he was probably a little sidetracked. I’m think you are on the right track because the d spot sensor obviously works and the actuator isn’t operating 100%. I’ll contact Pete again with this. Thanks!

I seem to recall the blue C16 (great car, BTW) having the D-Spot updated at some point. So SurfNSun might be right with the other 1/2 not "actuating" like it should. Gorgeous car!

Re: 2009 C16 D spot issues
Thank you. It’s a dream to drive!
Update- After talking with Pete we narrowed it down to most likely being the latch/actuator. With the door open and pushing the latch shut and the touching the D spot sensor I could hear the actuator engaging but not triggering the latch. This is the best case scenario as far as how easy it is to fix. I’d love to say I’m going to do myself but I’m an old iron worker who spent his life manhandling my work with brute force so finesse is not my game lol. You guys are great, thanks for helping me out!
