Hi Everyone:

I am a newbie to this site--attached are pics of my recently acquired 89 Callaway. It has quite a pedigree, having been owned by NCRS judges. It also won a McLellan Mark of Excellence award (although not quite sure what that is or means at this point).

It's been a long time since I owned a Corvette, but I recently retired and this was a gift to myself. I had owned a new 86 Z51 4-speed Corvette that was converted to a Callaway Twin Turbo within weeks of my purchase, so not a B2K, but still a car that I loved and hated having to sell. It was white, had a tan fabric interior, hood scoops (that Callaway installed a year or so later along with bigger brakes), a unique spoiler that Reeves told me about and install on the car, and a 3.54 rear (that I asked to be installed to provide a little more off the line performance). I often wonder where that car ended up. I sold it in 1993, I think, in Bowie MD.

Anyway, looking forward to going through all the posts and topics!

Thanks! After reading through the forum, I contacted MagicDragon because the description of his old car (#186, a conversion that received several upgrades over the ensuring years after my discussions with Reeves) matched my old car. It turns out, he bought it from me way back when in Maryland. He even sent me pics of the old girl when he owned it. Brought back a lot of memories, for sure, including the 92 Reunion.

My current car has had a great list of NCRS judges and has won a number of prestigious awards. Much of those awards were because of the condition and originality. I bought it to drive it, so I changed the tires (the originals were still on there!!!) and made a list of things needed to ensure the same reliability I remember from my old car. Don't get me wrong, this car was maintained meticulously over the years, but was driven 70 miles in 10 years! I will admit that I was beaten after doing a few things and so I called Callaway. The short answer is that they may do service work if they have a lull in business, but they are knee-deep in C8 work. I then called Ray at Corvette Center (they did work on #186 and he vaguely remembered the car), and they do work on the Callaway TTs. It is now there for all the work that remains. I am really looking forward to getting on the road again with this beautiful car!

After MagicDragon sent me pics of my old ride, I found pics as well. Here are two pics of my old car (one with me a LOT younger). I still have the Z51-4SP license plate. The spoiler on the rear was from Callaway.

Your car, I remember the white 87 when I first met MagicDragon back in the mid 90s. He loved that car!!! Congratulations on the 89. I know that car too. Great example

Thanks so much! It was an 86, though. I remember receiving a postcard from Callaway asking if I was ready to the take the training wheels off my Corvette. The postcard had a picture of a Vette with training wheels!!

1988 CTTC alongside my 87 convertible. Callaway is #36 and has gone back to visit Old Lyme multiple times for upgrades/repairs. Aerobody installed. A ZF 6 speed conversion along with rear gears performed by Tommy Morrison’s shop in 1992.
1987 convertible packs a 380” sbc along with ZF6 and 3.73 gears, dyno’d at 530 rear wheels.
Both cars are usually sporting a hardtop.

The 87 is a self built car packing a snotty N/A sbc with no Callaway ties other than it gets to share garage space with a B2K!

Hey guys new Callaway owner of my fifth Corvette. Mine is a 2011 Grand Sport Convertible SC606. I acquired it on Halloween and flew up to Philly to pick it up and drive her home.

Since then I've changed all of the fluids, swapped out the sway bars for MTI's Big Red Bars. Swapped out the shocks for DRM valved Bilstein road racing shocks. I've also had a set of custom wheels in 19" and 20" ZR1 fitment made and installed Michelin Super Sports in ZR1 sizes. She now rides and drives with spectacular authority. I'm mulling over adding long tube headers to improve the exhaust note and let the engine breath a little better. Anyone who has any experience with this and their Callaway please chime in.

Looking forward to great driving experiences with my Callaway!
Cheers, TJ
