Anyone have an install manual?

Post by sicfast »

I'd be very interested in seeing a manual. I have an Audi 4000 Quattro Callaway Turbo. I need a vacuum line diagram. Thanks.

sicfast,

I know that Callaway had kits for the Audi 4000S Quattro/Coupe GT and 5000S but I haven't seen any diagrams or pictures for it. I am curious, does your Audi include the use of the Mircrofueler to cycle an extra fuel injector for additional power? If so, the microfueler device measures vacuum and RPM to determine when to cycle the fuel injector and would have a vacuum line to it. Just in case you have it and you are trying to figure out what the vacuum line is for.

sicfast,

welcome to the forum :jsmile

In an earlier post about the Audi turbokit there is a small piece about vacuum.

Luigi, Yes there is a micro fueler, however when the kit was installed it requires that the vacuum lines be rerouted and some of the factory Audi lines be removed and replaced with pieces from the kit. I actually sourced all the factory lines and put it back to stock so I could see if the CIS fuel system was functioning properly on it's own. It is well known that these fuel injection systems are a little, shall we say, sensitive, and not always 100%. I plan on updating the turbo with a water cooled model and possibly replacing the micro fueler with an 034 suplimentary injection unit.

I saw this article. It inspired me to join the forum. I saw the bit abouot the vacuum lines, but it didn't give the detail I was looking for. Needless to say I am thrilled to know that this forum exist.

I have a diagram for "Audi 4000 oil breather and idle control valve" if that helps. I'll dig for some other stuff too.

what year is your Audi and will you post some pictures?

Yes that would help out alot. The car is an '85 from New Hampshire. It's very clean, and was sitting in a junk yard for about 6 years I was told. It has every factory option (MFA trip computer, and Heated Seats). Has a few little rust spots on the body but nothing underneath. Once I read the FAQ on how to post pics I'll get some up.

Very nice :jsmile

The first ultra rare Callaway Audi I ever seen and it was saved from a junkyard, how ironic :thumbs

funny and fitting, that diagram was "rescued" from the trash about 12 years ago.....just like your car!

Good luck with the car Sicfast and keep posting your progress and pics. :thumbs

Folks, just joined the forum. I rescued another Audi 4000Q turbo from the junkyard recently and had the turbo rebuilt. The only information I have about the Callaway kit is from a European Car magazine article. Is there ANY chance someone on this forum has an installation manual for that 5 cylinder motor from Audi? I saw the post about the oil breather arrangement - super helpful. I have questions about the turbo oiling. Was the oil feed a simple 4AN feed from a tee off the oil pressure sender on the opposite side of the engine? Seems like that is what the MK1 golfs were using? Also, on the microfueler is there a tach signal too, or just 12v and ground? Thanks so much for any help. This spring I plan to start the full install.

I will check my information on the microfueler installation.
The oil feed on the mk1 and mk2 golf comes from oil filter housing.
Depending on used oil line there could be a restrictor to not drown the. turbo.

I have some Audi info and will dig for it further next week. Funny how this thread still lives on after 16 years! PM me if you’d like…. John

BTW all, that is Reeves’ penmanship and numbers on the engineering worksheet in the earlier posting by Luigi. The man was detailed!

Can’t seem to PM you kingforward. If you can share any additional info it would be greatly appreciated. One weird area is the waste gate pressure source. On the European Car magazine photo their kit had a hose going from the cold side housing to the waste gate actuator. On my car there was a plug in the housing and a hose going somewhere feeding the actuator. No sure where it comes from. Thanks.
