That building in the backdrop looks like a hotel in the Santa Ana area, am I correct?

Cool.
Have you been to the new (a few years ago) shop in Temecula?
If you go, see if Peter Callaway still has that blue 944....

John, thanks. The nose reminds me of an AeroBody nose with he 4 openings. Wonder if that's where Paul Deutschman got the ideas?

Chris, this is originally from a 924 Turbo but I love the design too and have to admit I have a thing with grilles and gills as I love the design of Renault 5 Turbo too

Re: Porsche 944 Callaway
Hi Everybody!!! We are in CT. We have a 1983 Porsche Callaway Turbo GTL. Does anyone have a GTL? My husband broke it down this past year and is going through it putting it all back together. We hope to have it on the road this coming spring. I'll try to post some pics.

Re: Porsche 944 Callaway
Hi and very welcome to the Callaway Owners group.
Since there is only a handful of Callaway Porsches You have a very unique car in the garage.
We love to get photos and when You like You can start a new topic to keep us updated on the rebuild.
There is a lot of knowledge inhere so we can guide the rebuild when required.
Regards Jeroen

Re: Porsche 944 Callaway
I ordered car in July 1983
It was delivered in March 1984 to Park Porsche in Lawrence MA
I Drove it for 56k, and then in 1988 I had a third party install the 38th and last kit Callaway had.
Callaway did the engine work and modifications.
Drove the car daily (except winters) until 2012
During that time and milage (car has 227,000 miles) I had the IHI turbo rebuilt several times
During those years, I met Reeves and Callaway rebuilt the exhaust manifold, I also replaced the Callaway cut pistons with Porsche 944 turbo pistons.
Gave the car to my brother in NY for a few years but he really didn't have time for it, so I took it back and had a friend restore the body
and repaint from Black to gray. The IHI Turbo needed to be rebuilt again but no one rebuilds that turbo (that model was too old).
Communicated with Reeves and had me deliver it to Old Lyme in late summer 2020
Callaway replaced the IHI oil cooled turbo and custom fit a Garrett t28 water cooled turbo.
The team at Callaway did a great job. The car had been idle for many years and needed lots of TLC.
I received official documentation from Callaway stating it was the 38th and last Callaway 944 turbo kit.
Now it's back home and just got it inspected today. I'm looking forward to rolling that odometer one more time.

Great story, love to hear original owners.
Good that you are keeping it to enjoy.
I have 2 Callaway Turbosystems Volkswagen, the mk1 and mk2 type Turbokit.
Both awesome and fun to drive.
