The presentation does leave a bit to be desired. It was hard to even be able to get an overall pic with all the stuff in there around it

Minus the 1 intercooler, it looks complete.

I have no idea. To say this came as a complete surprise would be the understatement of the year. I think I’ll just focus on restoring the engine for now and see what comes along.

What's the latest on this? Don't forget to get the Callaway emblems for the intake plenum. :hi

I’ve got it home and have been removing all the accessories off the front and generally getting it tidied up a bit so I can get it on a stand. I’m talking with a local engine builder about assessing the state of the internals once I get it separated from the trans. Took both valve covers off and it looks brand new topside. #8 spark plug is completely carbon covered. That’s the only one I’ve pulled so far for no particular reason.
So, I’ve been wondering about the intake. Most of the pics I see on the interwebs have the black wrinkle finish but mine appears to have been “polished” like the rams horn and runners. Were all the early cars this way? When did the black finish come about? Are there any resources for pics of the engines before being re-installed? I know some of the accessories and brackets I have are not original.

All the 87-91 Callaway engines had the black wrinkle finish. Here's a pic of an engine from 1987 to help. It appears original in the pic:

Thanks for the info. So the “Callaway” is a decal? Mine shows no sign of ever being black so someone spent a lot of time to get it to a polished finish I guess. Appreciate the interest and any info at all. I continue to scour YouTube and past discussions here for as much info as possible. :hi

What numbers are on the pad, on the block, in front of the cylinder head on passenger-side?

Is part # 250.42.9014 the emblem you’re referring to? I’m seeing that a lot has been changed on this engine appearance wise. The block is red, inlet pipes shown as polished on the website are painted red, but the black intake has been polished :help :jsmile

This is the injector situation on the front of my rams horn. There’s clearly something missing that would secure it but not anything I’ve seen in any pictures.
