The Supercharged C8 is driving! The Supercharged C8 is driving! The report from the development team is super enthusiastic. The power feels very good (final validation measurement pending). The sounds coming from the new supercharger design are fantastic. And just what we hoped for. The responsiveness of the charge air delivery to the engine is very precise and follows the throttle input, perfectly, smoothly, and at the very quick demand of the throttle. A really exciting driving experience, especially the SC noise. On downshift, from inside and outside the car, the DD exhaust has come into its own. Nothing else sounds and acts like the Double D. The sounds here are such deep indicators of what we want from the C8. The driving experience from the C8 in general is so good, so pleasing, so mature and so nearly perfect that we have to bring two other elements to our version of the car. The exhaust signature and the sound of power from the engine compartment. Both of those elements are there in the most pleasing and exciting sound statements. With the engine so close to the driver there is a lot to be heard from the engine on its mechanical side, and the compressor side of the charge delivery both at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) and on the downshifting steps of the wonderful rpm matching of the gearbox. We love it!
Today we are announcing a new design supercharger. Here is a features/benefits discussion
What’s new about the Callaway C8 GenFour Supercharger?
The Callaway C8 Corvette is equipped with a brand-new supercharger design, unique from previous Callaway superchargers equipped on Callaway C7 Corvettes, Camaros, and trucks. Each of these vehicles utilizes a Callaway GenThree supercharger with TrippleCooled Intercooler System. This design was revolutionary and lead the industry in performance and efficiency. The same could be said for the C7 Corvette when it came out, and then the world was introduced to the C8. Building on that momentum, Callaway is proud to introduce the new GenFour, Twin-Screw, Supercharger for C8 Corvette.
Secrets of the Twin Screw. Note 3 lobe male rotor and 4 lobe female
The GenFour Supercharger is a clean sheet design that optimizes efficiency in every aspect. The biggest change from the GenThree is the 3.0L displacement, twin screw rotor set. The GenThree Callaway Corvette C7 Supercharger utilized 2.3L displacement, Roots type supercharger rotors. This package was a perfect match for the LT1 & LT4 engines in the C7 Corvette, to produce respectable power gains.
To match the power potential and technology of the new LT2 engine, something new was required-the larger displacement and twin-screw rotor design was developed. Here is how the two designs differ. Both are positive displacement superchargers, meaning for each revolution of the rotors, a fixed amount of air is delivered to the engine. For the GenThree Corvette application, that fixed amount is 2.3L (at 100% volumetric efficiency (VE)). For the GenFour, that amount is 3.0L (at 100% VE). That change alone delivers 30% more air to the engine per revolution, but the GenFour is not simply a bigger version of the GenThree. The GenThree rotors are a roots type, meaning air is delivered to the engine at atmospheric pressure at discharge. Boost is created by feeding the engine more air than it can digest naturally, and the backup creates pressure in the manifold, which is read as boost. With the GenFour screw type rotors, air is compressed inside the supercharger and delivered to the engine at an elevated pressure.
This method of compression is significantly more efficient, and therefore produces less temperature rise in the air, and requires less power to turn the supercharger. In summary, the GenFour supercharger delivers more air, at higher pressure, at a lower temp, for less input power. As with the GenThree, the air exiting the GenFour supercharger is routed through Callaway’s exclusive TrippleCooled Intercooler system, resulting in the lowest possible intake temperatures, but this system has been improved as well. Most significantly, the GenFour is now equipped with an intercooled bypass configuration. This means that the air entering the engine when not on boost, is similarly cooled by the intercooler. Intake air is at a lower temperature during normal driving conditions and thus peaks at lower temperatures when compressed.
The result is higher horsepower potential, with less stress on the engine. All these improvements have been expertly engineered to provide you with the most powerful, efficient, and reliable automobiles possible. Nothing in our approach to our vehicles is done without purpose and passion.

Testing is a long process!
It’s only a test vehicle until they are completely satisfied with their products.
