1987 microfueler

Post by Joseugaz »

Need help.1987 ,chasing a surge under boost, checking microfueler with rpm and mityvac simulated boost,no spray at auxiliary injectors .checked with a known good microfueler,no spray.the power, red,and the ground, brown wires at the microfueler connector were cut.anyone see this before. Car idles, runs and drives fine at light boost. Then starving for fuel under slight load. Now I see why.no power at the microfueler. Last 2 picture shows were the connection to the market. Fuel were and they were simply cut at the ground near the steering column and also power wire was cut at the pink wire at the splice.the 8 main injectors are factory 22lbs.bought from original owner, he has no knowledge of this trickery.

I'd be curious why the wires were cut. That car cannot run right without added fuel under boost. Not possible.

As you know, you need to add fuel under boost. This can be done by adding larger injectors and calibrating for such, But the aux. injector controllers are a good way to do this, adding fuel, leaving stock injectors i-place.

Some have used other controllers. Modern versions of the microfueler.

Here's an example of modern:

Please keep everyone posted on your next steps :hi

Guys, figured it out. I added power and ground and still no changes then I checked the timing, was set at 2btdc.i checked my other 87 was at 6,that 1is running awesome. I set timing at 6 and now it's running almost like it should. The surge under boost is gone. Thanks for the help. Special thanks to undercover 7-psi.great guy.he suggests to pull and check injectors and that's next. I guess the last guys to work on the car couldn't figure out the issue and cut the power and ground wires on the microfueler. Definitely be on the lookout for whoever works on your cars.
