Water Pump Pulleys

Post by UserB2K »

I just had my badly chewed up water pump pulley turned at Day Racing in Goodlettsville, TN. Then hard anodized by Quick Turn anodizing in Guthrie, KY who does all the anodizing for Day Racing.

While I was there I asked the guy who runs the machine shop at Day Racing if he could reproduce these pulleys with his equipment since they are no longer available from Callaway. I showed him a photo of a new one that hadn’t been hit on the edge by an Earl’s fitting. He said if he had a minimum order of 20 pulleys it would be worth it.

So, gauging interest here. Do we have enough people who would like to replace their pulleys to make 20?

Thank you for reaching out to us on this.
Count me in for one.
Maybe more if we need to get it over the hump of 20.

Thats a good point. I’m in for two myself, cause two is one and one is none as they say.

Thanks kingforward! That makes 3.

He really needs to give a firm price.

I posted to the COG facebook group. One member there has 6-8 b2ks and would be interested depending on the price.

The OEM pulley doesn't have such a hard edge.

Here is an image.

Surfnsun, yes that is correct, mine ended up like that after getting “machined” by a steel 45 degree hydraulic hose fitting a previous owner installed and the actual machining to clean it up.

Thanks for hitting up FB! I don’t have FB so that’s a big help.

Ahhh gotcha, I thought that was the new one copied off of yours. That makes sense.

I think we can pull 20 together once he gives the price per pulley at that build quantity.

UPDATE: NEW WATER PUMP PULLEYS WILL SOON BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ON THE CALLAWAY WEBSITE

While working on this in the last few weeks:

I couldn’t get an estimate from Day Racing on cost. He also wanted a drawing or an original unmolested pulley to work off.

I contacted JK Pulley in St. Louis and he said no problem, and for a fair price, but he needed a CAD file best case. Worst case, we use my machined pulley and estimate the original dimensions.

When I started this process I had called Wayne about making pulleys. I have kept updating him on how many guys want pulleys and let him know that if it was a supplier issue I would find one. I called asking for the CAD file and let him know JK Pulley could do it on their CNC machines for a fair price if we made 20 or so. He said he would talk to the powers that be. He got back with me and said they were updating the CAD file and would start making/selling them again.

From Wayne today when I emailed about an update to pass on to the guys on COG:
“You can let them know I will post them on our website, when available. I have the drawing completed and sent it out to quote, waiting to hear back.”
