Callaway Dymag Lettering Orientation

Post by 88CTTC »

Below are pictures of two different 1988 Callaway Twin Turbos' Dymag wheels. Both are considered original. However, they differ in one interesting respect - the orientation of the "Callaway" stamp.

If you mentally rotate each wheel to where the lug nut cover retention bolt is at the bottom, the "Dymag" lettering is right-side up. On one wheel the "Callaway" lettering is also right-side up. On the other one, the "Callaway" lettering is upside-down. I found an old thread where this was discussed but no conclusions were drawn or history revealed so I thought I would ask again... does anybody know why?

It could be a lack of attention at the Dymag factory and the die stamp was placed upside down during a changeover. Or maybe there was a reason for this change? Would love to learn more.

Thanks

You are correct, it appears careless placement in the molds changed the orientation over the production run.
